Pop superstar Mariah Carey will perform in the UAE next year as part of the Dubai Jazz Festival.

The record-breaking American singer will headline the three-day event’s key Thursday night, at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on February 23.

One of the biggest stars in the history of popular music – and hailed as the best-selling female performer ever with record sales in excess of 200 million – Carey has clocked an incredible 18 US Billboard number ones, a record only topped by The Beatles.

Carey, whose age is believed to be 46 or 47, will arrive in Dubai fresh from her Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour, and a lucrative Las Vegas residency.

Tickets for the concert, priced at Dh395, go on sale today at noon.

“It is such an honour to have one of the world’s most remarkable music icons, Mariah Carey, perform on the stage of Dubai Jazz Festival,” said Anthony Younes, CEO of festival promoters Chillout Productions.

Carey is the second headliner announced for the Dubai Jazz Festival’s landmark 15th anniversary edition, with Spanish heart-throb Enrique Iglesias set to perform on Friday, February 24. The opening night headliner for February 22 is yet to be confirmed.

Last year’s jazz festival – which boasts a title sponsor of Emirates airline – was headlined by Toto, Chris Botti & Sting and Santana.
